I noticed QEMU has hotplugging support (i.e. I was trying to concoct something crazy to bypass this. It seems you can't seem to set it to legacy mode due to there already being a ICH9-LPC device at the 1f.0 pci address. It's probably setting it to UPT mode (which doesn't seem to allow direct output, unless you're able to provide access to the opregion which I couldn't do) instead of legacy mode.

My theory is the Intel iGPU driver for Windows does some checks on q35 + Broadwell or newer machines that prevents direct output. But Linux guest seemed to work (no UEFI boot display though). On my Kaby Lake optimus laptop, I could not get it working on q35 for Windows guest. On my Haswell optimus laptop, I got GVT-d legacy mode + Nvidia dGPU on q35 working (no UEFI boot display though) for Windows guest.

Graphic card is fully free from the host system, no errors in logs and passthrough works perfectly on virtual machines with pc-i440fx chipset type on the same host. So the main question is anyone had success to single iGPU passthrough on Skylake CPU using q35 chipset emulation? If yes, what did you do for this and on what hardware/os/version? For patching UEFI bios I tried different versions of IntelGopDriver.efi (from board latest firmware and few new from other boards but for the same CPU/iGPU). GPU rom was from the iGPU or vbios_gvt_uefi.rom version. Tried standard or self builded QEMU UEFI bioses. I tried different approaches in all combinations.

I can test it connecting to virtual pc over RDP. Intel graphics driver is installed without any issues, all hardware acceleration is working fine (quicksync as example). Every time I got black screen on both monitors. That's why I decided to change my virtual machine to q35 (PCI express). But pc-i440fx has limitation of PCI chipset - it's impossible to use 4K/60Hz resolution (Intel graphic driver says that resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity). And Intel iGPU passthrough works almost perfect - dual 1080 monitors is perfect with BIOS mode and some periodic flickering on one monitor connected over display port with UEFI mode.

Previously in QEMU/KVM I used only pc-i440fx chipset emulation. I decided to use my old NUC (Skylake based Skull Canyon NUC) for this purpose. when i inquired the driver details, a pop up said " Driver files not required or not loaded onto this device" I Legit just got this PC yesterday, and i would just like to get it running.Hello :) After I finally found that it was impossible to use iGPU passthough in the new Intel NUCs (11gen with Intel Iris XE), because I do not have sufficient programming skills to apply the Project Acorn Tigerlake patches to QEMU.
